British singer Cilla Black dies at 72

British singer and TV host Cilla Black died on Saturday, her agent told the BBC. She was 72.

An official cause of death has yet to be released, but police told the BBC that the death seems to be due to natural causes. Black had a home in Estepona, Spain.

Black, born Priscilla White, was known for such '60s and '70s hits as ‘’Anyone Who Had a Heart’ and ‘You're My World’.

The singer got her start by working in the cloakroom of Liverpool's Cavern Club as a teenager. There, the Beatles spotted her musical talent, and she was later signed by their manager, Brian Epstein.

Black added a BBC variety show to her resume with "Cilla" debuting in 1968 and running until 1976. Later she hosted gameshow "Blind Date" in the '80s and '90s.

British talent has paid tribute to Black since news of her death became public, including actress Joan Collins and the Beatles' Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney.

"I am so sad and shocked by news about my good friend Cilla," Collins wrote. "She was a resplendent and rare talent."

"I just heard the news Cilla Black has left us she was a good friend we will all miss her peace to Cilla peace and love to the family," wrote Starr.
