India's parliament stalls over corruption scandals

Angry opposition lawmakers are paralyzing India's parliament with screaming demonstrations against the government that make it nearly impossible to get any work accomplished.

The protesters are demanding the resignation of New Delhi's top elected official over her role supervising last year's expensive and scandal-ridden Commonwealth Games.

The speakers of both houses of parliament adjourned their Wednesday morning sessions within minutes after screaming opposition lawmakers drowned out officials who were trying to conduct business.

The winter session of parliament collapsed amid similar protests against corruption. This session was expected to deal with important bills relating to food security, land acquisition and the creation of a national ombudsman.
