Son saw his 7-month pregnant mother raped

Police say three armed men broke into a Rhode Island apartment and raped a woman who is seven months pregnant while her 9-year-old son was home.

Authorities say the attack happened in Central Falls on Saturday morning.

Police say the victim was asleep with her son in a bedroom when three men kicked in the door to her home. One of the men raped her in a bathroom. Police say her son was in the bedroom during the rape.

The woman tells WLNE-TV that the boy saw "everything."

Capt. James Mendonca says one suspect was taken into custody and charged on Saturday.

Mendonca refused to name the suspect or say what charges were filed. He says the suspect was released. Mendonca would not discuss a motive.
