Bride arrested moments after taking her wedding vows

It is meant to be the happiest day of your life, but one Michigan bride's wedding day photograph was being splashed across news websites for all the wrong reasons.

Tammy Lee Hinton, 53, was arrested on a felony warrant just moments after saying her wedding vows on Saturday in Jackson, Michigan.

She was also briefly jailed while wearing her wedding dress and veil, the Jackson Citizen Patriot reported.

Police mugshots released of Hinton show her staring glumly into the camera while dressed in a white dress with a veil on her head.

Wanted in Michigan for identity theft, Hinton had been living in Florida recently and police received information she would be back in Michigan for the wedding at City of Zion Ministries.

"We can't ignore it when we have good information on where she's going to be," Blackman-Leoni Township Public Safety Officer Rick Gillespie said. "We had to do what we had to do."

He said police gave her the opportunity to change out of her wedding dress before taking her in, but she declined.

Hinton was held for about 30 minutes and was scheduled to appear in Jackson County District Court on Monday at 1pm.

But she was a no-show and a warrant is expected to be authorised for her arrest.
