American in Saudi sends two tortured dogs to US

An American school teacher in Saudi Arabia gave shelter to two stray dogs at his home in the Gulf Kingdom before sending them to his family in the United States after he saw them being tortured by Saudi youngsters.

Christopher Salisbury had the two dogs treated in the western Saudi town of Ras Tanura before having them at his home in the Kingdom, according to Sabq newspaper.

“He later sent the two dogs to his family in the US…but because his parents are old and already have many dogs, they decided to hand those two dogs to the animal welfare society,” said Liza Baloush, a spokesperson for a Saudi animal protection society.

She said Salisbury decided to act after he saw local youngsters tying the two dogs and hurling stones at them, adding that the ears of one dog had been cut off.
