Baby offered on sale for just $60 in Morocco

A Moroccan man and his wife offered to sell a baby delivered by their 15-year-old daughter after an affair with a man for $60 before they were arrested by the police in the north African Arab country, newspapers said on Wednesday.

Police seized the couple after receiving a report that they were trying to sell the baby in a public place in the central town of Safru.

The girl was detained pending trial on charges of having an illegitimate relationship while the man and his wife were made to write a statement pledging not to sell the baby.

The papers quoted a police spokesman as saying the baby could be adopted.
