Bizarre: Passengers' bags get sewage spray

Published

LONDON: Brithish Airways' passengers kicked up a stink after they found their checked-in baggage was sprayed with sewage.

After a sewage pipe burst in Terminal 5 at Heathrow, many luggage items reached their owners with a foul smell on them. And about 100 passengers were affected, reports The Sun.

The daily quoted a person present in Heathrow as saying: “The smell was absolutely foul, as was the mood of the passengers who had to leave without their bags.”

The airline made a formal apology to the affected passengers.

Man chained to tree for 15 years

INDIA: A man has lived in chains for the last 15 years. His ordeal started when he turned 10 and he was chained to a tree due to some medical affliction in the Indian state of Rajasthan.

However, after spending 15 years either chained to a tree outside the house or a bed inside the house, he has become mentally unstable, reports Mid-Day.

His family has no money to spend on his treatment any more as they have sold everything in the last decade-and-a-half and there is no help coming forth from the government.

The man's brother feels bad about keeping him chained all the time but the villagers complained if he was not kept under control.

The brother has taken his case to every government office he could reach for some kind of financial aid, but there has been no hope from any quarter so far.

Man fakes his own fatal car crash

BRITAIN: An oddball faked his own fatal car crash to check if his girlfriend truly loved him.

He sprang back from the 'crash' to propose to her after she had passed his litmus test, reports Daily Mail.

The duo had arranged to meet at a certain place. But when the woman arrived, she saw a mangle of cars and ambulances, smoke and carnage. Then she was horrified to see her boyfriend lying in a pool of blood on the street and a paramedic told her that he was dead.

He hired a movie director and stuntman to make his 'death' look convincing.

The poor woman broke into tears and immediately the 'dead' boyfriend jumped back to life and proposed to her, finally convinced that he was her Mr Right.

The girlfriend was so cross with him that she wanted to kill him, she told the daily.

However, she took the joke in good spirits and the couple got married a few days later.

Double whammy: Scorpion sting victim handed hospital bill of $83K

PHOENIX: An Arizona woman is wondering what hurt more: getting stung by a scorpion or seeing her hospital bill after treatment.

Marcie Edmonds says the bill from Chandler Regional Medical Center was more than $83,000. That includes two doses of anti-venom at nearly $40,000 per dose.

The Arizona Republic says Edmonds' insurer has paid more than $57,000 and the suburban Phoenix hospital is asking Edmonds for the balance of about $25,000.

The 52-year-old Ahwatukee (ah-wha-TU'-kee) Foothills resident was stung in June while opening a box of air conditioner filters in her garage.

Edmonds says an emergency room doctor told her about the Mexican anti-venom Anascorp that could quickly relieve her symptoms, but she was never told about the cost.

Chandler Regional says Edmonds' bill represents the out-of-network costs for her treatment. (AP)
