Convicted Saudi asks wife to lash him

A Saudi husband who was sentenced by a local court to 30 lashes for insulting his wife told the judge he accepted the verdict but asked him to let his wife flog him.

The husband told court he was sorry to have offended his wife in front of his second wife and begged her to agree to lash him.

“You should lash me…if you want to give me more lashes, that’s fine…the most important thing now is that you forgive me,” he told his wife at court.

Newspapers said the wife dropped the case against her husband in return for his promise at court not to insult her again.  The papers did not say where exactly in Saudi Arabia  the incident took place.
