SINGAPORE: A mother and her two daughters have been sentenced to jail for a string of abuses on a young boy who was staying with them.

Between 2009 and June 2011, the boy, who is 10 years old now, was subjected to a variety of abuses, including having his fingers cut with a pair of scissors, being burnt with a hot iron, and being beaten repeatedly, reports The Straits Times.

On one occasion, the boy was scalded with hot oil for eating up all the food in the house, the daily said.

The woman made her daughters hold down the boy while she poured scalding hot oil with a ladly on the boy's face and chest. The boy was then turne over and the rest of the hot oil was splashed on his back.

The 46-year-old mother received a five-year jail term, while her daughters, aged 20 and 24, were jailed for 20 months each. The woman's husband was also equally involved and is currently out on bail. His pre-trial conference is scheduled for January 20, said the paper.

The two daughters have also been involved in other cases of cheating and have been sentenced for additional number of months for those crimes.

 

Daughter pardons mother who chopped off her ears

China: A woman pardoned her mother who lives in China's Guangdong province for cutting off her ears in 2005 while she was asleep.

Chen sliced her daughter Xiao Jie's ears six years back in a fit of rage as then 14-year-old had stolen money from home and did not listen to her.

Chen severed the girl's ears while she was still in sleep and flushed the ears down the toilet. She then surrendered to the police.

Xiao, now a 20-year-old beautician, underwent a surgical reconstruction of artificial ears and has pardoned her mother that helped her get a reprieve from prison, reported Shanghai Daily citing Nanfang Daily.

 


Girl, 15, kills self after video blackmail

INDIA: In a detestable incident, a teenager committed suicide when one of her neighbours showed her father a video of her taking a bath.

A realtor plotted the conspiracy as he wanted a piece of land owned by the 15-year-old girl's father, reported The Times of India.

The girl was unable to handle the fallout and hanged herself to death. The body of the grade 10 student was discovered by her sister.

The conspiracy hatchers are absconding, police officials said.

 


Girl, 12, with rare vomiting illness is sick up to 40 times a day

BRITAIN: A pre-teenager is detected with an unpredictable disease which makes her sick up to 40 times a day. On a particular horrible day, she even thre up 100 times within 24 hours, reports Daily Mail.

Alisha Atkinson has been suffering from cyclic vomiting syndrome for six years now. The condition has no known cause. It strikes with a mighty force when the patient is nervous or stressed.

Daily Mail has learnt: "Since the age of six, Alisha has spent 140 nights in hospital at Pontefract General Infirmary and has intravenous fluids to rehydrate her after each 'episode'."

The family is desperately waiting for the day Alisha simply grows out of this terrible condition.

 


60-year-old gets 60 stitches after monkey attack

INDIA: An elderly woman lost one of her toes in a monkey attack in the western city of Ahmedabad. The animal chewed up the toe during the attack. The 60-year-old also recieved injuries on her legs and required 60 stitches.

The woman had just stepped out of her door to buy vegetables from a neighbourhood vendor when the monkey pounced on her, reports The Times of India.

The monkey did not let go of the lady for about five minutes and when the passers by managed to shoo off the beast, she was already in a bloodied state and she had received grievous injuries in three places on her legs and there was flesh hanging out as well, said eye witnesses. The woman was immediately rushed to the hospital as she needed a surgery to stitch her up.

The monkey has so far attacked four people and authorities have failed to capture it.
