Crazy World: Mom raped as newborn lay beside

Published

As a woman was being raped, she managed to call 911 and leave the line open so police could pinpoint her location and catch her attacker.

This happened during a burglary attempt in her house.

The burglar spotted the 25-year-old woman with her baby and decided to rape her.

Holding a knife to the woman, he beat, choked, raped and sodomized her as the newborn lay on the bed.

But the victim was clever for the attacker.

During the assault she managed to call police from her cell phone, leaving the line open so police could trace it.

The dispatchers could hear the assaults taking place and pinpointed the location of the call.

Gary L. Holmes, 19, has been charged with armed sexual battery, armed burglary and one count of petit theft.

Miamiherald reported that his sweatshirt was stained with blood and he admitted to the rapes.

Police say Holmes assaulted the woman three times. He spotted the cell phone on his way out and tossed it in the garbage.

The baby was not injured.

Woman 'set alight', screamed for help

A 25-YEAR-OLD woman has burns to 30 per cent of her body after being deliberately set alight at her unit, police say.

AAP reported that police were called to the Rivervale unit in Perth's inner south at about 7am (WST) today after neighbours heard screams and rushed to the woman's aid.

A police spokeswoman told AP it was believed the woman had been deliberately set alight and police were calling for any witnesses to come forward.

74 year old man arrested for prostitution

The Smoking Gun reports that a retiree Thomas Mills was arrested for prostitution, after he allegedly offered to perform a sex act on two undercover police officers in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

A police report said Mills first flashed his car headlights to get the officers' attention. He then "asked about the size of the U/C officers genitals, asking to see them."

Mills then allegedly offered to give and receive oral sex from the officers.

According to the Myrtle Beach Sun News, officers also reported that Mills said he had a friend that would join them, were they to engage with him in sexual acts.

Mills isn't the only male senior-citizen to be booked for prostitution and make headlines in the process. In fact, he's not even the oldest to do so.

In November, Ben Clifford Dawson, an 83-year-old Centerville, Iowa, city council candidate was arrested for the same offense.

Dawson allegedly told Melissa Drew that he'd reduce the amount of money she owed him if he could perform unspecified sexual acts on her, a police report said.

Chief of Police Tom Demry told The Huffington Post at the time that the law doesn't distinguish between johns and hookers.

Intruder points gun at 5-year-old

An intruder allegedly pointed gun at a five-year-old child during a home invasion in White Gum Valley last night.

The intruder entered the Hope Street home at about 8pm and made threats to the three adults and seven people aged under 18, including the five-year-old.

Donna Addison, who was at home with her mother and seven children, said the man was extremely agitated and demanded to know where his "old mate'' was.

She said that when her five-year-old son appeared from his bedroom the man pointed the handgun at his head and did the same to her four-year-old daughter who appeared seconds later.

She said she stood up to make sure the gunman switched his attention from her children to her, prompting him to point the gun at her and her screaming mother and demand they sit down.

Before the man left in a white Holden Commodore he threatened to come back and shoot people at the house if he did not find the man he was looking for.

Ms Addison said her children were traumatised by the ordeal, and she wanted the public housing authority to move her and her family to another house in case the man returned, reports AAP.
