A teacher in India paid with his life for objecting to eve-teasing of schoolgirls by a group of youngsters.

Makhan Verma was beaten up by three youths when he tried to stop them from harassing girls outside the high school where he taught, reports Press trust of India.

The trio came on a motorcycle and passed certain remarks at the girls outside a school in Raipur. When Verma protested, the trio badly thrashed him. He was taken to hospital, where he was declared dead, they said.

The three alleged attackers have been arrested, the police officials said.

Father at 94, thanks to diet

A landless Indian farm worker who fathered a child at the age of 94 has credited his virility to a daily dose of milk, almonds and ghee.
 
The worker, Ramajit Raghav, who lives on the outskirts of a small north Indian town called Kharkoda in Sonipat district of Haryana state, 40 kilometres from Delhi, has claimed to have fathered a son at this ripe old age, reports Times of India.
 
The Haryana government’s old-age pension records put his age as 94.

Crediting his health to his physical activity and diet, Raghav told the newspaper that his daily diet included three litres of fresh cow’s milk, half a kilo each of almonds and ghee, or clarified butter commonly used in south Asian countries.

The report quoted doctors at a government hospital as saying Raghav’s wife Shakuntala, who is in her fifties, delivered a healthy boy a month ago through normal procedure.

The man has in the process replaced Nanu Ram Jogi, a farmer from another north Indian state, Rajasthan, who fathered his 22nd child when was 90 in 2007.

Tattoo leads to murderer

A tattoo on a hand of a teenaged girl who was killed and burnt has led police in a south Indian state to the killers.

The tattoo, the name of the 18-year-old undergraduate management student’s lover, proved the undoing for the killers who had burnt the body after killing the girl, reports Times of India.

The girl who hailed from Chamrajnagar district in the southern Indian state of Karnataka was so much in love with that she tattooed the man’s name on her hand. When police found the charred remains, only that hand was intact with the tattoo marked Mukund, her lover’s name.

The name, besides information a goods carrier three-wheeler autorishkshaw  commonly used in India, led investigators to the killers. And the men were all nabbed one by one.

Unravelling the story, police found that the girl Ramya was in an affair with Mukund. A student of business management, she asked Mukund to marry her and sought to meet him on the day before the incident.

Not ready to commit himself, Mukund decided to eliminate her and ropes in four of his friends, including one of them who drove the three-wheeler goods carrier used to transport the body after the murder.

'Dishonour' killing in India

Fifteen-year-old Indian girl Tapasya was allegedly killed at the behest of her father, Umed Singh, who suspected her of having an affair with a neighbourhood boy.

20 days after he filed a complaint with the police that Tapasya had gone missing, her body was found in a drain outside the northern city in India.

Police say the girl's father plotted the murder and asked the domestic help to execute the killing and dispose of the body.

Lured with the promise of money and a better future the domestic help strangled Tapasya.
 
 
84-year-old Playboy founder gets engaged to 24-year-old girlfriend

Love knows no age barriers - and "Playboy" chief Hugh Hefner is proof. The 84 year-old has apparently got engaged to his 24 year-old girlfriend Crystal Harris.

Hefner posted on Twitter that he has gifted Harris a ring on Christmas eve, the TMZ.com reports.

"After the movie ("The Tourist") tonight (December 24), Crystal and I exchanged gifts. I gave Crystal a ring.

A truly memorable Christmas Eve," he posted.

Hefner has been married twice previously. His first marriage to Mildred Williams lasted from 1949 to 1959, and he split from second wife model-actress Kimberly Conrad earlier this year.
