Family welcomes girl after 100 years of boys

The last baby girl in the Underdahl family was born in 1914. Until now.

After years of giving birth to only boys, an Idaho family got the surprise of a century – a baby girl.

For the Underdahl family from northern Idaho, it was the first girl born into the family in 101 years, according to the Coeur d’Alene Press.

Aurelia Mare Ann, at 8 pounds and 3 ounces, put an end to the streak April 12.

“Maybe it took more than 100 years to create perfection,” grandfather Conrad Underdahl told the Coeur d’ Alene Press of his newborn granddaughter. “She’s a cutie. We’ve been spoiling her a bit because it’s just different finally holding a baby girl.”

He added that he never knew what an Underdahl girl looked like, but now he can see it – she has her grandfather's nose.
