Father steals money donated to dying son

Published

In a despicable act, a father stole £16,500 donated to his dying son by well-wishers during battle to keep him alive.

The 46-year-old father stripped the trust fund bare, not even leaving enough for his 24-year-old son's funeral, reprots Daily Mail.

A lot of people who felt for Michael's suffering, who was Britain's youngest victim of motor neurone disease, got together and raised about 55,000 pounds so he could go to China for stem cell treatment. However, hopes were dashed when the treatment failed and the father stripped the trust fund and left a meagre £1,300 in the account.

The father deceitfully got his boy's grandmother to sign on blank cheques. When the grandparents changed their decision and asked for the cheques, the father burnt those cheques in front of them, accusing the elderly couple of not trusting him. However, one of the so-called cheques he burnt was a blank piece of paper.

When the police investigating the fraud case asked him about the money, he told them that he had already encashed the cheque and spent the money to repay business debts.

The father is on trial for duping the well wishers and clearing out the trust fund.
