Girl, 10, crashes car into convenience store

Young driver accidentally stepped on gas instead of brake

Police in southern Arizona say a woman has been cited for allowing her 10-year-old daughter to drive her car, which crashed into a convenience store.

Sierra Vista police say 31-year-old Linda Morales was cited for allowing an unauthorized minor to drive and released.

Police say the girl had driven the car less than a mile Thursday when she got to the Circle K store.

The girl told police she accidentally stepped on the gas instead of the brake, which caused the car to crash into the store's entrance.

No one in the car or convenience store was injured, but police say there was extensive damage to several plate-glass windows.

Circle K maintenance crews worked through the night to repair the damage so the store could reopen at 6 a.m.
