Hoax? Woman allegedly 'gave birth' to lizard

Published

In a shocking incident, a midwife claims that a pregnant woman allegedly gave birth to a lizard in a remote location in Indonesia.

Authorities have launched an investigation in order to come up with a logical explanation, even as scientists have termed the issue 'clearly nonsense', according to a report published in UK's Daily Mirror.

The alleged lizard birth took place in the month of May and now an angry lynch mob is targeting the woman and acccusing her of witchcraft.

The issue has created a furore online and there is a heated debate going on in the digital world.

Investigation is on and the authorities are waiting for the final report. However the Chief Medical Officer of an Indonesian city was quoted as saying to the UK daily that: "It is clearly a nonsense to suggest that the woman gave birth to a lizard. There has never been a proven case of a living organism from one species giving birth to a different species, it just doesn't happen."

The officer also added that it is possible the woman might have gone through a phantom pregnancy and also undergone labour. A lizard might have been at the scene of labour, thus leading the midwife to jump to the wrong conclusion and claim that the pregnant woman gave birth to a gecko.
