Preposterous Prophecy: Doomsday on 21/12/12 due to… Gangnam Style & YouTube

Forget what the Mayans told you: Nostradamus (no less) apparently predicted doomsday based on a dancing horse and nine circles – which many online citizens of the world are seeing as a clear link to Gangnam Style (Yes!).

It gets funnier.

This ludicrous story is going viral on the Internet, claiming that the worldwide Korean dance craze “Gangnam Style” heralds the end of the world.

First, there’s this set of quoted text that is being attributed to Nostradamus and his prediction of the end of the world:

“From the calm morning, the end will come
When of the dancing horse
The number of circles will be 9.”

Nostradamus’ apocalyptic meme (it certainly is not the first one, guys – there are many different versions floating around) making the rounds online, claiming that Nostradamus predicted that the calm morning, a dancing horse and nine zeroes would beckon the end of the world.

How’s that linked to Gangnam Style, you ask?

Okay, since you asked, here’s the deal: The quote implies that South Korea’s pride Psy and his ‘Gangnam Style’ fandom is the beginning of the end. This story originated from a meme generated by the website 9Gag.

First – and this is Googlable – Korea is known as the ‘Land of the Morning Calm’. An emperor of the Ming dynasty of China, the Celestial Empire of the East, apparently gave Korea the title of ‘Chaohsien;, meaning morning freshness.

So, according to Nostradamus, the ‘end’ will come from the calm morning – that’s clearly Korea’s Psy… come on guys, stop giggling and just play along.

So, we’ve established here that the calm morning and the dancing horse imply the horse dance of ‘Gangnam Style’ rapped by Korea’s pop singer Psy.

Phew!

The second part of Nostradamus’ prophecy, “number of circles will be nine”, obviously refer to the number of views in YouTube when it reaches 1 billion views. Currently, the song has over 981 million views on the video streaming site – with two days to go for the Doomsday, it’s a ‘race to the finish’, pun intended.

See the link clearly now?

There obviously was a reason why the Mayans ended their Mayan Calendar on December 21, 2012.

Don’t click on the Psy’s original Gangnam Style upload on YouTube – you just might expedite the end of the world!

family said they had decided to hold that party after four former maids he had employed went home on holidays and never came back.">See the video of “Gangnam Style” here.

BTW, if you believe this, you’ll believe anything.
