Teen orphans raped at shelter home

Published

Two teenage orphans were allegedly raped for eight months by a junior clerk and his son at the government shelter in Pune, India.

The girls, aged 14 and 15, revealed their misfortune only when they were transferred to another shelter home recently, reported MidDay.

The 52-year-old suspect and his 20-year-old son have been arrested on charges of raping the minors between November 2013 and July 2014.

At the time of the alleged crime, there were 35 girls at the shelter of whom 10 were orphans. During vacations, when other girls visited their parents, the orphans would be sent to another Aashram. It’s when the victims reached the new place that they mustered the courage to speak up.

The girls endured the attack because the suspects threatened to beat them, the report said.
