Toddler survives fall from third floor balcony

A three-year-old child was hospitalised after falling from a three storey balcony in Adiyaman City, Southeast Turkey, the Turkish Dogan news agency reported.
 
Bayram Altinkaya was hanging from the balcony of his house when his hands slipped and he fell.
 
A stack of plastic pipes on the ground cushioned his fall, eyewitnesses and family members told the Dogan News Agency.
 
Bayram's mother Tugba Altinkaya said she had gone inside the house briefly when her little boy fell down from the building.
 
"I was in the kitchen working and heard the voice of my child from the balcony," she told DHA broadcaster at her son's bedside in hospital.
 
"I ran out in a hurry and saw my child outside on the pavement. I was so scared I did not know what to do," she added.
 
Tugba Altinkaya said her son "used to always hang from the balcony but I was always supervising him, so I never thought he would ever fall."
 
A nurse assigned to treat Bayram Altinkaya at the Adiyaman State Hospital Child Care said the boy's condition is stable and he is expected to be released in the coming days.
