A 60-year-old woman exhumed her husband's body and tried to take it across the border in her car.

The man was buried in what appears to be his family plot in Bosnia. However, the woman had had a fall-out with her husband's family. Therefore, she dug up her husband's grave and tried to cross the border into Montenegro, to keep him closer to her home, reports The Metro

However, the woman was spotted by other motorists, who got suspicious once she dumped the coffin on the roadside. Then she placed her husband's body on the rear seat of her vehicle and she planned to get him through the border by telling the officials that he was sleeping.

But her plan remained incomplete when border patrol officials stopped her a few kilometres down the road.

The woman pleaded that she was taking home "what was rightfully hers". But the woman has been charged as exhuming a body without permission is a crime.
