Child with broken spine needs 44 surgeries

Published

A two-year-old girl in Mumbai, India, has already undergone two surgeries and will need at least 44 more before she turns a teenager.

Arpita was born with a broken spine and will need a surgery every three months until she turns 13, reports MidDay.

Doctors have inserted a rod to support her broken spine, so as she grows the length of the rod will have to be adjusted according to her height.

Now she is able to play, thanks to the operations.

Each surgery costs Rs40,000 [about Dh2,400]. The toddler’s dad has been working night shifts in a small garage to make ends meet.

He seeks financial help to secure his child’s future.
