This gardener has created a new record in growing the hottest chillies in the UK.

The 'eye-watering' product was grown by mistreating the chillies, which made them produce what is termed as 'blistering levels of heat', by Daily Mail. The man denied them water, bit the ends off and even shouted at them in order to raise their natural defence against the ill-treatment.

The 43-year-old farmer grew the 1,590,000 Scoville-unit chilli in Wiltshire. Named 'Katie', the chilli broke the British record by 200,000 Scovilles, says the UK-based daily.

While there is no proof that this form of treatment results in hotter chillies, BBC had done a show almost a decade ago where they had mistreated some chillies. The mistreated ones turned out to be much hotter.

'Katie' is most likely to be part of a sauce, named 'KT-Extinction', and will be sold at festivals.
