'The Silence of the Lambs' in Abu Dhabi

Two men who wanted to slaughter a sheep conspired to do so on top of a five- floor building in Abu Dhabi to shun he law which prohibits such acts in public.

But the sheep itself exposed them when it silently ran off and jumped down. The Asian slaughter expert had just put his knife on the sheep’s neck when it shot out of his grip and ran towards the edge with blood oozing out of its throat. Despite its wound, the sheep was not disheartened by the one-metre high concrete barrier that separated it from the tip of the building. It backed off and ran round the corner, expertly evading its executioner, before it ran forward again and leaped over the barrier. The jump was a complete success as the sheep flew in the air and landed on a car parked near the building. Only then, the slaughter managed to regain control of the poor sheep and complete the execution.

The incident, which took place on Najda street near the town centre on Friday, attracted a big crowd and the police as well.“A sheep preferred to commit a suicide over the knife of a roaming slaughterer in the Capital,” the Dubai-based Arabic language daily 'Emarat Al Youm' said.

“The sheep belongs to an Arab man who bought from the livestock market…they agreed to have it slaughtered on top of the building but the operation failed.”
