Partial road closure on Abu Dhabi street
The Municipality of Abu Dhabi City announced a new road closure on Hazza bin Zayed-Al Najda Street intersection going towards Al Salam Street.
This will be implemented on Saturday to facilitate construction works on Al Salam Street, which will be the first freeway on Abu Dhabi Island.
Motorists coming from Hazza bin Zayed Street or Al Najda Street wishing to access Al Salam Street will have to take alternative routes such as Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Street or Muroor Street.
The Municipality of Abu Dhabi City, in co-operation with the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ - Traffic and Patrols Directorate, continues to encourage motorists to adhere to speed limits and obey all traffic laws. Pedestrians are urged to use proper crossing areas and bridges provided by the municipality for their own safety.
Al Salam Street Project will offer a state-of-the-art solution that meets the needs of a growing city. It includes upgrading the existing road to an urban expressway with a network of roads and tunnels that will lead to a smooth free-flow facility of an estimated capacity of 6,000 vehicles per hour on each direction. Upon completion of Al Salam Street Project, motorists will be able to travel through Al Salam Street without any traffic signals from Sheikh Zayed Bridge until Mina Zayed. The project will also positively impact the environment by reducing traffic volumes that will lead to a decrease in air pollution. Likewise, the tunnels' central system is among the most advanced in the world and comes with enhanced safety features.
