16-yr old ‘Messi’ set to be Man Utd's new star

The Manchester United midfield seems up and running with Wayne Rooney finally slotted in the hole to turn creative force. 

That will not stop the carping about the likes of Michael Carrick and Darren Fletcher lacking the class to bring down teams of the caliber of Barcelona and Real Madrid. 

Even Chelsea’s current midfield dream team of Jaun Mata, Eden Hazard and Oscar make United’s midfield, even with Cleverley very much a force still in the making. 

The big miss for Sir Alex Ferguson, at least in terms of popular opinion and some sections of Old Trafford was Luka Modric. 

Unable to spring the Croat playmaker from Tottenham Hotspur, Fergie seemed to have lost on a playmaker to take over from Paul Scholes. 

This is why reports linking another young Croatian star with United, will delight the fans and raise much hope of a team to repeat the 1999 treble. 

Alen Halilovic is the 16-year old Dinamo Zagreb playmaker who goes by the moniker of ‘European Messi’. 

The Messi comparison springs not only for their looks, but as much for the young star’s time and movement on and with the ball. 

Real Madrid are the other clube believed to be in the hunt for the young star, having already snatched Modric from United. 

If not a Modric than a Messi will do fine at United.
