Danish forward Nicklas Bendtner has confirmed he will leave Arsenal this summer, but refused to reveal which club he expects to join, according to British press reports.

Bendtner has played no part in Arsenal’s pre-season preparations, with Arsene Wenger leaving the forward behind in order to give him time to find a new club.

Sporting Lisbon, Borussia Dortmund and Stoke have all been linked.

Valued in the region of £9 million, Bendtner confessed he has held talks with a number of clubs, but is yet to find out which one he will join. The only thing that is certain is that he will not stay at Emirates Stadium.

Speaking at Hampden before Denmark trained ahead of Wednesday night’s friendly against Scotland, Bendtner was asked if he was set to leave the London club and he replied: “Yes. I have done my part as well as I can and it’s up to Arsenal now to sort it out, I can’t do anything more.

“Hopefully it will be sorted soon but as I said to the Danish press, when I know something they will.

“I would like to play at a place where you are happy and play every week, that is the most important thing for any football player and hopefully that will happen soon.”

Asked if Stoke City were one of the teams he has spoken to, Bendtner laughed then replied: “I can’t say anything about who I have been speaking to, but hopefully it will all get sorted out soon.”

Denmark coach Morten Olsen believes Bendtner needs to get regular first-team football.

He said: “It is good for himself if he plays first-team football.

“You don’t play football for 50 years, you have to enjoy it as long as possible.

“Of course it is also a money question but a national player has a lot of ambition and wants to play football.

“Nicklas has been injured for a year but he can be a good player again.”
