Liverpool for Demba Ba as Carroll replacement

With the Liverpool revolution finally underway, Brendan Rodgers can look forward to the January window and filling in the vacant second striker role at Anfield.

That is, if you don’t count Fabio Borini – and he has not done anything yet to suggest he be counted yet.
Demba Ba and Newcastle are on a collision course over payment issues, and Ba, who is currently on fire in front of goal with six goals in six matches in the Premier League may be ready to move in January.

The Andy Carroll saga suddenly seems history at Liverpool, though it will take more than one win to get the Kop to believe that letting Carroll go was ok.

Demba Ba could certainly put that memory to rest.

Liverpool have to weigh a £7.5million release fee clause in Ba’s contract against the 17 goals he scored in his first season for Newcastle and the six already in the bag this season.

Ba’s agent, Alex Gontran, had already stoked the flames by saying: “Since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations, Demba doesn’t understand the management.

“If he continues to be a substitute all season we will look at other solutions.”

Arsenal’s Theo Walcott remains the other option with no end in sight to his negotiations with Arsenal.

A central striking role now sits top of the list for the England forward, given that his demand for increased wages seems to have been shot down.

Walcott could easily fit in to Rodgers’ insistence on the tiki-taka as the way forward for Liverpool and a strike pairing with Luis Suarez may even prove possible.

Chelsea will be closely tracking Walcott, so it may be back to Ba for Rodgers come January.

Or Rodgers could truly deliver the kind of move everyone was expecting on the last day of the transfer season – land both, Ba and Theo.
