Kenny Dalglish is confident Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard could make an impact in the Premier League's biggest match of the season against great rivals Manchester United at Anfield on Saturday.
The Liverpool manager is ready to unleash the fit-again Gerrard who is expected to start his first game this season.
Returning after seven months from a nightmare groin injury, Gerrard has only made three substitute appearances as Dalglish did not want to rush brining in the skipper.
But the impact Gerrard made in the last 30 minutes of the Merseyside Derby against Everton has convinced Dalglish that he is ready for a start.
Incidentally, the last game that Gerrard started was the 3-1 victory over United last season and Dalglish is confident his captain is capable of leading his side to victory against Sir Alex Ferguson’s men.
He said: “A fit Steven Gerrard strengthens this football club, no question. If you have Steven in your squad, it’s going to raise the profile and standard.
“We want to have a really strong squad – and him being in it makes it that much stronger.”
