Ajax teenage midfield sensation Christian Eriksen is reported Manchester United's top transfer target.

The talented 19-year-old has been named the Dutch Talent of the Year and Danish Player of the Year already in 2011, after a breakthrough season with Ajax.

Dutch legend Johan Cruyff, still a hero at Ajax, describes him as a player "I like with all my heart".

Former Ajax manager Martin Jol, now at Fulham, compares him to Wesley Sneijder – a player that United tried to buy recently – and Rafael van der Vaart.

And United boss Sir Alex Ferguson sees him as the ideal replacement for Paul Scholes.

But Barcelona are also keen on red-hot midfielder.

However, United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is willing to spend more than £20 million on the Denmark star, who is said to be a target for Barcelona, Man City and Chelsea.

Ironically he was turned down by Chelsea and Tottenham a few years because they thought he was too small but has since turned into a world-class player.

Eriksen had trials with Chelsea when Frank Arnesen was director of football.

At last year’s World Cup, Eriksen was the youngest player in the tournament, featuring in Denmark’s group games against Holland and Japan.
