A transfer fund of more than £35million and some of the hottest strikers in a decade up for grabs, what will Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger do in in January?

Wenger has admitted that he needs a second striker – especially given Olivier Giroud has not quite hit the back of the net with the regularity of a Robin Van Persie.

There are few strikers across Europe who have hit the net more consistently at the start of this season as the Colombian Radamel Falcao.

Just to underscore the point, Falcao, now on international duty with Colombia’s World Cup qualifying campaign scored again to win against Paraguay.

Falcao has been scoring almost at will for Atletico Madrid and Chelsea are clear favourites to sign on the star after reported directions straight from owner Roman Abramovich.

Atletico would hope to raise around 50 million pounds Falcao scored 24 league goals in his debut season, behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Chelsea fans will know Falcao best for his hat-trick against the Blues apart in the UEFA Super Cup this August.

This is why a bold move by Wenger for Falcao will not only serve as a reminder to the big-spending EPL clubs that the Emirates has the budget and appetite for a title, but is willing to bring in the big guns as well.

While Falcao will be fed by Oscar, Mata and Hazard at Chelsea, he will be equally served by Cazorla, Arteta and Diaby at Arsenal.

If Wenger can steal Falcao from Chelsea in January that will really set up the title race.

Chelsea then might still be in the hunt for their Didier Drogba replacement. Will the Hulk be back on the cards?
