A major demand of Skycourts owners – to have the annual home owners' meeting - may “soon” be met, but the building management has yet to put a definite date to it.

The landmark complex along Al Ain Highway in Dubailand was ready in February 2011 and the Owners' Association was installed in April 2011. A year later, apartment owners have yet to receive a notice of any meeting.

The Skycourts Home Owners' Association is controlled by the developer, National Bonds, which continues to hold a large number of units in the 2,800+ unit complex.

"Very soon the annual Home Owners' Association meeting will be held, in which many issues of concern to the residents will be discussed," disclosed the OA’s spokesperson.

“This has taken a while because we have attributed the organisation of the event to a second party. It is not an easy task to gather 3,000 owners.

“But we will be able to announce a lot of good news to residents soon. We have been able to bring down the maintenance costs for the community from Dh7 million to Dh4 million by negotiating major discounts with our clients,” he added.

The community, located this side of the Dubai Bypass Road and Al Ain Highway interchange before Dubai Outlet Mall, has one of the lowest maintenance charges among the freehold areas of Dubai.

However, high power bills have been a damper for the residents and owners. They also say that the cooling unit is not sufficient to bear the summer load, a statement that seemed to be borne out with a recent issue with cooling as the summer set in.

Work is reported to be going on to expand the capacity of the district cooling facility run by Empower next to Skycourts.
