Work on Central Park to start

Nakheel, Dubai's leading master-developer, has announced that the Central Park at the heart of the Palm Jumeirah will open to residents and public shortly.

The park is located between the Shoreline Apartments and Golden Mile developments, with approximately 1.4 kilometer long and 1 million square feet site area. The company has announced that overall infrastructure works at the park will commence in October 2011 with facilities provided at the park for public use, and contractor mobilisation to start soon.

Ali Rashid Lootah, Nakheel Chairman, comments: “We are delighted to proclaim the opening of the Central Park on the iconic palm. Around the world, Palm Jumeirah has become a symbol of Dubai’s incredible energy, growth, and ambition. The Palm Jumeirah Central Park will become a major spot to its residents and public visitors.”

With 3 kilometre loop walking, the park has been designed with a reflective of the local desert landscape and environment theme, a unique, and befitting its central location on the iconic Palm. The Central Park will provide a themed recreation and leisure facility of international standard, for the enjoyment of both local residents and visitors.

There are plenty of playgrounds for children, while adults can spend their time sitting at the casual sitting and relaxation areas and enjoying the scenic beauty of the park.

The main attractions of the park are the wadi and water features, children playgrounds, casual sitting and relaxation areas and pedestrian promenade.

The other important features of the park include a jogging track of 3 kilometers surrounding the park with soft and hard landscaping shaded with a number of date palm trees along. The construction is planned to start in October 2011.
