The key to a healthy Ramadan fast is eating right during iftar and maintaining a healthy diet plan that ensures you don’t overindulge in the wrong types of food items and moreover, stay hydrated in the right manner.
Here are some easy health tips to follow:

• Pack the deep fryer away and opt for baked and steamed meals at Iftar. Modifying your cooking methods while maintaining the same varieties will ensure a healthier fast.

• Do not drink water or juice before meals or with them; they are best consumed independently, and at varying times after breaking fast.

• Craving something sweet? Choose dates, honey and fruit over sugar and sweets and keep your taste buds satisfied.

• Adding fruit to the menu is easy. Just create a delicious fruit salad and the whole family will want this healthy treat, just make sure to serve it separately to the meal.

• Drinking soup and eating salad slowly at iftar will help you feel full and prevent you from overeating later on in the evening.
