Champions League T20 KXIP vs Barbados: Punjab seal thrilling 4-wicket win

David Miller and Akshar Patel shared a 19-ball 47-run partnership as Kings XI Punjab chased down a target of 175 to seal a five-wicket win over Barbados Tridents in Champions League match in Mohali.

Needing 25 runs from 12 balls, Ravi Rampaul was hammered for three boundaries and a six by Patel as he scored 20 runs to change the match into Punjab's favour.

Miller hit a fine six to remain unbeaten on 46 to see Punjab overhauled the target in 19.4 overs.

Virender Sehwag (31) and Manan Vohra (27) provided the start sharing 41 runs for the first wicket.

Earlier, Dilshan Munaweera and Raymon Reifer scored superb half centuries as Barbados Tridents scored 174 for six in 20 overs.

An eventful over as Vohra survives a catch drop and then Punjab get four byes. KXIP 23-0 in 2 overs

Put in to bat first, Munaweera smashed an exact 50 from just 26 balls including five boundaries and three sixes to give the perfect start.

Reifer remained unbeaten to score 60 from 42 deliveries including three boundaries and four sixes to ensure Barbados had a good total.

KINGS XI PUNJAB

Miller blasts a big six as Punjab secure their second win. KXIP 178-6 in 19.4 overs.

Stunning shots from Akshar Patel. 20 runs comes off Rampaul's last over and that could seal the fate for Barbados. Punjab just need five from six balls. KXIP 170-6 in 19 overs.

Miller remains the hope for Punjab as he reaches 38 from 30 balls. Punjab need another 25 from 12 balls. KXIP 150-6 in 18 overs.

Perera falls in his first ball and that's serious trouble for Punjab. KXIP 131-6 in 16.3 overs.

It's further trouble for Punjab as they lose Bailey. Franklin had attempted a brilliant catch which he could not latch on to but this time he takes it comfortably. KXIP 127-5 in 15.5 overs.

George Bailey c Franklin b Mendis 7 (11b 0x4 0x6)

Punjab need 58 from 36 balls. Miller having a tough time in the middle playing Mendis. KXIP 116-4 in 14 overs.

Another big blow for Punjab as Sehwag is trapped in front by Mendis. Punjab looks to be losing the plot from here. KXIP 103-4 in 11.5 overs.

That's a big wicket for Rampaul as Maxwell is gone caught by Nurse at fine leg. KXIP 95-3 in 10 overs.

Saha departs playing a reckless shot to offer a simple catch to Munaweera. Maxwell joins Sehwag. It should be an interesting sight. KXIP 76-2 in 8 overs.

Wriddhiman Saha c Munaweera b Franklin 14 (13b 1x4 0x6)

Sehwag has not had the oppportunity to bat much but has still managed to reach 20 from the 14 deliveries he has faced. KXIP 68-1 in 7 overs.

Sehwag playing a cautious game but keeps the momentum going with a cheeky boundary. KXIP 50-1 in 5 overs.

The luck finally runs out for VOhra as he offers a simple catch to Carter off Rampaul bowling. KXIP 41-1 in 3.4 overs.

A positive start from Vohra as he blasts a six over third-man. KXIP 9-0 in 1 over.

BARBADOS TRIDENTS INNINGS

A good final over for Barbados as 15 runs comes of it. BT 174-6 in 20 overs.

Holder departs but he did his job of giving some quick runs to Barbados. BT 159-6 in 19.1 overs.

Brilliant half century from Reifer. He gets there in just 39 deliveries including three fours and as many sixes. BT 159-5 in 19 overs

Akshar Patel has an expensive finish as he gives away 41 runs in his four overs. Two sixes coming off in his last over. BT 150-5 in 18 overs.

Chigumbara falls cheaply as Perera claims his second wicket. Things slowing up a bit for Barbados everytime they lose a wicket. BT 131-5 in 16.2 overs.

Elton Chigumbura c Anureet Singh b Perera 3 (5b 0x4 0x6)

Perera successfully ends Franklin's run after having given away boundary in the earlier deliver. Awana takes an easy catch in the deep. BT 124-4 in 14.4 overs.

James Franklin c Awana b Perera 10 (8b 1x4 0x6)

A fine catch from Miller on the line as Carter departs. BT 106-3 in 12.1 overs.

Jonathan Carter c Miller b Anureet Singh 20 (19b 3x4 0x6)

Another good over for Barbados as 13 runs comes off it. Reifer batting on 24, Carter on 15. BT 100-2 in 11 overs.

Halfway through Barbados are 86 for two.

There's a slight drizzle but that does not stop from Reifer coming down the track to haul one over the ropes off Sehwag bowling. BT 73-2 in 8 overs.

Two new batsmen in the middle should give Punjab the upperhand. Maxwell gives away just two runs in his first over. BT 63-2 in 7 overs.

Munaweera is gone immediately as Punjab celebrate the big wicket. He was looking dangerous. BT 61-2 in 6 overs.

Dilshan Munaweera c Vohra b Awana 50 (26b 5x4 3x6)

A superb quickfire half century from Munaweera. Taps to fine leg boundary to get his 50. His innings included five boundaries and three sixes.

Punjab finally get their first wicket. Perkins is trapped in front off Awana's bowling. BT 54-1 in 5.1 overs.

William Perkins lbw b Awana 10 (8b 2x4 0x6)

There is no stopping Munaweera. He welcomes Akshar Patel with a boundary and a six to get another 10 runs. He is on 44. BT 54-0 in 5 overs.

Munaweera already reaches 34 from just 17 balls. His innings has three boundaries and two sixes. BT 44-0 in 4 overs.

The openers putting on a good show with another 10 runs coming off Anureet Singh's over. BT 34-0 in 3 overs

A lot of boundaries for the fans to cheer. Three coming off this over. The openers are making a merry out there. BT 24-0 in 2 overs.

Munaweera takes it easy the first three balls before hammering a boundary and a six to give Barbados a fine start. BT 10-0 in 1 over.

Bailey won the toss and put Barbados to bat first.

Kings XI Punjab made a bright start winning their first match easily over Hobart Hurricanes on Thursday.

Barbados Tridents will be keen to break Punjab's confidence and look to post their first win.
