CLT20 Kolkata Knight Riders vs Chennai Super Kings: Russell powers KKR to spectacular win

The Champions League Twenty20 2014 (CLT20) kickstarts with a heavyweight clash between IPL (Indian Premier League) teams Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings at Rajiv Gandhi Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad at 6.30pm UAE time.


Muhammad Hafeez-led Pakistan T20 champions Lahore Lions has added more spice to the competition by qualifying to the main draw after wins over Mumbai Indians and Sri Lankan side Southern Express.

Defending champions Mumbai Indians, one of the favourites to qualify, were knocked by out after losing  to Northern Knights from New Zealand.

Kings XI Punjab is the third IPL team in the fray as the tournament proper in the 10-team event that will also be played at Mohali and Bangalore.

Reigning IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders led by Gautam Gambhir will lock horns with seasoned campgainers Chennai Super Kings in what promises to be a thrilling opener.

KKR will be eyeing their third T20 title having won the IPL title in 2012 and earlier this year.

CSK led by Indian skipper MS Dhoni will be hoping to add to the three T20 titles (IPL 2010, CLT20 2010, IPL 2011) they have in their cupboard.

Chennai have won nine of the 14 matches against Kolkata.

Both teams have one win-a-piece when they clashed in the IPL earlier this season winning their home matches.
