DCC unveil Debonairs Pizza floodlit event

Dubai Cricket Council (DCC) in association with ICC Global Academy will be conducting a floodlit tournament sponsored by Debonairs Pizza from May 23 featuring 12 top local teams.

"Cash awards of more than Dh15,000 will be presented to the winners, runners-up and best performers in the tournament besides trophies," said Mohamed Lokhandwala, Honorary Secretary of DCC at a press conference announcing the event.

"Not only will leading clubs and cricketers get an opportunity to play in a Premier Tournament conducted by the Dubai Cricket Council at one of ICC’s best grounds in the world, but they will also be given an opportunity to play on Asian and Australian pitches and will also have the added benefits of a ‘Special Package’ which is cricket related with add-ons which have never been offered before," he said.

The special offers  include one hour of net training session for every participating team with ICC coaches Mudassar Nazar or Dayle Hadlee; opportunity to win signed merchandise; 25% discount on all additional net usage during the tournament and free one-hour net sessions,  which will be equal to number of matches played by the team.

The 12 participating teams are Yogi Group, Seven Seas Strikers, Fly Emirates, Farooq CC,   Abraj CC, Amlak Finance, Cool Boys CC, Globelink Westar Shipping, Wings XI, Phoenix Medicine, Nucaf Tellicherry and HSBC.

A total of 18 matches will be played during the league stage as the teams  will be divided into three groups of four each and will play six  round-robin matches in each group.

Two top teams from each group will qualify making it six teams to the next stage and three matches will be played in  the quarter-finals.

From the three winners, one winner with best Net Run Rate will go straight through to the finals while the remaining two teams will play one semifinal followed by the final.

A a total of  23 matches to be played on four week-day nights from Monday May 23  to Wednesday June 29 at ICC Global Cricket Acadmey  grounds starting from 7.30pm to 11.30pm.
