Emirates Veterans too strong for Hollywood Golden Oldies

Emirates Veterans easily beat the visiting Hollywood Golden Oldies by nine wickets in a match played at the Sharjah Stadium on Tuesday night.

The visitors consisted of players now resident in America, including two women players Sandra and Ivy Mahabir who have represented the USA in the ICC tournaments.
Winning the toss and electing to bat first, the Oldies never recovered after losing early wickets though making a respectable 99.
CTK Nasir and Freddy Sidhwa picked up a wicket each early before Paul and Mahindra revived their innings with a 38-run partnership before Paul (21) was caught by Vijay Mehra off the bowling of Shiva Pagarani.
Mahindra (18) bowled by Riaz Poonawala.
AKS Satish picked up two for 11.  
Emirates Veterans openers Riaz Poonawala and Mohamed Lokhandwala first played cautiously before opening out up after a few overs to put on 45 runs before both had to retire.
Poonawala made 22 with three fours while Lokhandwala made 16 runs with one boundary.
Vijay Mehra then continued the good work along with Nasir as they made short work of the target. Mehra made a run a ball 21 with two fours while Nasir was unbeaten with 11.
Mazhar Khan of the ECB awarded the winners’ trophy to Shaji Shahtaj while Shaji presented the runner-up trophy to Hollywood Golden Oldies skipper Bala.
Freddy Sidhwa presented the Best Bowler, Best Batsman and best All-rounders trophy to AKS Satish, Riaz Poonawala and David Sentence respectively.
The match was sponsored by Shaji Shahtaj of Mulk Holdings, Freddy Sidhwa of Seven Seas Services group, Jasapara Sports and Sharjah Cricket Council.
