Six of fate: Afridi blasts India back to 1986 (and Miandad's decade-long Pak dominance)?

In 1986, Pakistan’s Javed Miandad dealt a psychological blow to India that cost the Indians dearly in terms of international cricket.

For approximately the next 10 years, every time India played Pakistan in ODIs the advantage was clearly with Pakistan and more often than not, as the statistics will bear, India lost.

Cricket fanatics have dug up these analogies between Miandad’s watershed performance in Sharjah and Shahid Afridi’s heroics in Bangladesh in the on-going Asia Cup.

For those who follow the stats and believe that coincidence is fate knocking at the door, then the signs are ominous for India.
Not least for this young bunch of Indian cricketers who are all just starting off in terms of international ODI cricket.

The image speaks for itself - the Indians can either be worried or take it as a challenge to make sure this is just a coincidence.
