Ibsons crowned Bukhatir League champions

Ibsons CC were crowned champions of the 38th Bukhatir League ‘A’ Tournament after they routed Eurocon Alubond site by 157 runs in the final at the Sharjah stadium on Wednesday night.

Zuhaib Akhtar and Kamran Shehzad produced stand-out bowling performances to rip through the tentative batting line-up of Eurocon to help their side seal a well-deserved victory in the longest-running tournament of the UAE, organized by the Sharjah Cricket Council.

Akhtar snared five wickets for just 25 runs while Shehzad returned with a tidy haul of four wickets for 45 runs as Eurocon, chasing 268 for victory, crashed to 110 all out in just 20.3 overs.

Only Samiullah (26) and Arif (23) were among the runs, but loss of wickets at regular intervals undermined Eurocon innings.

Earlier, Ibsons, batting first, posted a competitive 267 before being all out in the 49th over. Faizan Arif their batting charge with a solid 88 off 58 balls which included two fours and 11 sixes.

Waseem Baig (57 off 88 balls with four fours) and Baber Malik (51 off 56 balls with six fours and two sixes) kept the momentum going with a fine batting of display of batting when it mattered most.

Mohammed Azam was the pick of the Eurocon bowler, taking five wickets for 50 runs, while Naemullah took three for 46 runs, but their efforts failed prevent Ibsons from seizing the early initiative.
