Ind vs Eng: England win 5th ODI by 7 wickets

Ian Bell christened cricket's newest venue at Dharamsala in India's Himachal Pradesh with a magnificent century to steer England to a seven-wicket victory in the final one-day international on Sunday.

Bell virtually carried his bat out at the picturesque snow capped region remaining unbeaten on 113 off 143 balls with the help of 13 fours and a six as England chased down the target of 227 with 16 balls to spare.

Joe Root (31) and Eoin Morgan (40 not out) gave him admirable support as England finished the tour on a high despite losing the ODI series 3-2 having won the first game by 9 runs.

England raced to victory with Morgan blasting three sixes including two off one over from Shami Ahmed while Bell hit the winning runs with a boundary and a single in the 48th over as they finished on 227 for 3.

Bell was associated in partnerships of 78 for the third wicket with Root and an unfinished stand of 84 for the fourth wicket with Morgan.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar (0-45) and Ravichandran Ashwin (0-50) were the most expensive bowlers for India while Ishant Sharma, Shami Ahmed and Ravindra Jadeja gave India hope by picking a wicket apiece.

"It was good win, it was a good toss to win, but our bowlers bowled really well. (Tim) Bresnan and (Steven) Finn got early breakthroughs today. Our top four got runs and (Ian) Bell played a fantastic knock," said England skipper Alastair Cook.

"Our bowlers set up the win but 220 odd was a good target to chase," said man of the match Ian Bell.

"The (ODI) series was as tight as the Test series. We should have won this game, maybe we should have batted more sensibly. But it is a young side and it will learn with time," said Indian skipper MS Dhoni.

Earlier, a pugnacious half century by Suresh Raina (83) lifted India 226 all out in 49.4 overs after being put into bat by England.

Raina hit his fourth consecutive half century of the series as he steadied the Indian innings after a dreadful start.

England had the hosts on the ropes at 24 for 3 when Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli (0) were dismissed in successive balls followed by Yuvraj Singh also for a duck.

India's innings was thrown into further disarray when Gautam Gambhir departed after a fluent knock of 24 and were reeling at 79 for 5 after the loss of skipper MS Dhoni.

Raina found an able ally in Ravindra Jadeja (39) as they led a fine rearguard action with a partnership of 78 for the sixth wicket.

Some lusty hitting by No.9 Bhuvneshwar Kumar who made a run-a-ball 31 which contained five boundaries.

Kumar and Shami Ahmed fell in the last over by Tim Bresnan who finished with the best return of 4 for 45 while Steven Finn and James Tredwell picked up a couple each.

Samit Patel came in for some stick going for 46 in 6 overs.
