Fans yet to sample the action and atmosphere of the Pepsi Indian Premier League (IPL) at Dubai Sports City have just one final chance to see what all the fuss is about after another match at the Dubai International Stadium was confirmed as a sell-out.

The last tickets for the match on Monday 28 April between Kings XI Punjab and Royal Challengers Bangalore were sold on Wednesday.

And that means the only remaining match in Dubai that has availability is the clash between defending champions Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday 30 April.

That is the last match of this year’s IPL that will take place in the UAE before the tournament heads to India for the last month of action.

Wednesday night’s Pepsi Indian Premier League (IPL) clash between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals at the Dubai International Stadium is sold out.

Tickets for the match, which starts at 6.30pm, are no longer available and it means a third IPL match day out of five at Dubai Sports City has already sold out, according to a press release issued by Dubai Sport City.

That follows on from Saturday’s full house to see defending champion Mumbai Indians versus Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Daredevils take on Kolkata Knight Riders, and also this Friday’s double-header of Sunrisers Hyderabad versus Delhi Daredevils and Chennai Super Kings against Mumbai Indians.

On that basis, those fans without tickets are being urged to stay away and those fans that do have tickets are being asked to arrive as early as possible to ensure they do not miss a single ball.

Dubai Sports City General Manager – Sports Business Maqbul Dudhia said: “We are delighted that we will again be putting up the ‘house full’ signs for Wednesday’s Pepsi Indian Premier League action at the Dubai International Stadium.

“At the same time, we are conscious of the fact that, as the match is taking place on a weekday evening, there is likely to be a high volume of traffic on the roads around the stadium in the late afternoon and early evening as fans going to the match mix with commuters on their way home.

“On that basis we would ask fans with tickets to seek to arrive as early as possible to ensure they do not miss a single ball of the action.

“And we would also ask those fans without tickets to resist the temptation to come to Dubai Sports City as there will be no tickets available for entry to the match.

“For those fans fortunate enough to have tickets, gates will open at 4pm and there is plenty of free parking near the Dubai International Stadium. And for those without their own transport, the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority’s new F29 bus service runs regularly to Dubai Sports City from the Mall of the Emirates.

“We are all set for another fantastic atmosphere and with the lights of the Ring of Fire kicking in for a night match, the Dubai International Stadium will once again be a spectacular place to be on Wednesday.”

Those fans with their own transport are advised to avoid Hessa Street between Sheikh Zayed Road and the exit to Al Khail Road and to use other connecting roads to Dubai Sports City via Al Khail Road and Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road (formerly Emirates Road).

The free parking near the stadium is situated next to Canal Residence and at North Point, a five-minute walk from the venue, all of which is signposted.

Arrangements for spectators with children are as per previous events at the Dubai International Stadium – all children over one year of age require a full-price ticket – and cameras with large, professional-style lenses will not be allowed.

For those fans still desperate to catch some of the action at Dubai Sports City, Dudhia had some good news for concerning the matches on 28 and 30 April.

“Tickets are still available, although selling fast, for Monday 28 April and Wednesday 30 April,” he said.

“With ticket prices for those matches next Monday and Wednesday starting from AED30 and a superb atmosphere guaranteed, there is every incentive for fans to catch the action before it leaves our shores and heads back to India for the second half of the tournament.”

Those matches still with availability see the Kings XI Punjab – including Glenn Maxwell and David Miller, as well as Virender Sehwag – take on Royal Challengers Bangalore – led by Virat Kohli and with Yuvraj Singh and Chris Gayle in the squad – on April 28, while the action at Dubai Sports City is rounded off two days later when the defending champion Mumbai Indians goes head-to-head with Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Both those matches get underway at 6.30pm, with tickets available at a variety of outlets including the Dubai Sports City box office, Lulu Hypermarkets, AJ Sports and on line at www.ticketmaster.ae.

The opening hours for the Dubai Sports City box office (located at the Dubai Sports City head office) are as follows:

Wednesday April 23 (match day for CSK v RR with tickets sold out): 10am – 10pm

Thursday April 24 onwards except match days: 10am – 8pm

Match Days April 25 (sold out), April 28 and 30: 10am – 10pm

Prices for matches still available start from Dh30 and go up to Dh200 for Platinum seating.

The Dubai Sports City box office can be contacted on +971 55 100 7646 and +97 155 100 7655 in case of queries.

“Tickets are available across Dubai at a range of outlets and on line, as well as at our box office at the Dubai Sports City head office, with opening hours for that box office extended for as long as we have tickets left to sell," Dudhia added.

“It is all in keeping with our consistent policy at Dubai Sports City of seeking to ensure that our events are as accessible as possible to as many people as possible.”
