IPL6: Delhi notch easy win over Kolkata

Delhi Daredevils kept alive their slim hopes of qualifying for the IPL6 play-offs when they coasted to a seven-wicket win over Kolkata Night Riders in Match 44 at Raipur on Wednesday night.

Chasing a target of 137, Delhi were reduced to 27 for two losing openers Sehwag and Mahela in successive over.

David Warner and Unmukt Chand fashioned their recovery with a third wicket partnership of 95 help by some sloppy fielding.

Chand was dismissed with 15 needed for victory after making 37 off 39 balls with four boundaries.

Warner remained unbeaten on 66 off 44 balls hitting six boundaries and three sixes.

Earlier, Kolkata Knight Riders recovered to reach a competitive 136-7 in Match 44 of IPL against Delhi Daredevils.

Having opted to bat, Kolkata got off to a terrible start with skipper Gambhir being run out without facing a ball.

Bisla also followed soon after while Yusuf Pathan holed out to his brother Irfan who took a stunning catch.

Kolkata were reduced to 50-5 losing Morgan and Kallis in successive overs.

It soon became 84-6 with Das perishing after hammering a six and a boundary.

Rajat Bhatia held the tail together remaining unbeaten on 26 adding a useful 30 with Narwal who smashed a 15-ball 23 with four hits to the fence.

Brett Lee marked his return by smashing two sixes off Nehra to boost their total.

Yadav had figures of two for 36 while Irfan Pathan was the most economical claiming one for 16. Nadeem had figures of 4-1-23-1.

DELHI DAREDEVILS INNINGS

Rohrer hits a six off Pathan and paddles the next ball for a single for the winning run as Delhi make 137-3 in 17.5 overs.

Chand falls with 15 needed for victory after a partnership of 95 with Warner for the third wicket. DD 126-3.

Bisla seems to have collided with Chand and seems to be in pain.

Warner has raced to his half century off 35 balls with consecutive boundaries off Balaji.

Chand cracks a couple of boundaries off Kallis as Delhi are on their way. DD 96-2 in 14 overs.

Lee clobbers two sixes as the last over from Nehra yields 16 runs to help Kolkata finish on 136-7.

Bhatia slaps Yadav through the covers for a boundary. KKR 120-7 in 19 overs.

Narwal's defiant knock comes to an end holing out to Chand off Yadav. KKR 114-7.
