IPL6: Pune stun Chennai by 24 runs

Pune warriors India (PWI) led by Ross Taylor scored a shock 24-run win over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Match 19 of IPL6 at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk on Monday night.

Chasing a target of 160, Chennai were restricted to 135 for eight suffering their first defeat against Pune at home.

Chennai suffered a big blow in the first over with Anirudha being dismissed LBW off Kumar.

Badrinath 34 and Jadeja 27 were the only two batsmen who led the fight with Vijay contributing 24.

Dinda claimed the all important wickets of Dhoni 10 and Morkel 13 to pave the way for victory.

Kumar and Dinda scalped two wickets with Dinda conceding 34 and Kumar 12 runs each.

Chennai simply lost the plot after the fall of Dhoni and Morkel while Pune laboured for victory.

Earlier, Pune electing to bat first posted 159-5.

Aaron Finch was the top scorer with 67 of 45 balls slamming ten boundaries and two sixes.

Finch was dismissed by Jadeja who misread the ball to come out of his crease with the alert Dhoni making no mistake to stump him out.

Robin Uthappa supported him well for a record partnership of 96 runs for Pune in this competition.

He was dismissed with Morris striking a lethal blow.

Smith was the other batsman who impacted the game with a 16-ball cameo of 39 slamming three boundaries and three sixes to give a filip to their total.

Dinda bowls the final over to restrict Chennai to 135-8 to give Pune a convincing win.

Bravo never really got to go for the big shots and was dismissed by Sharma in his final over.

Chennai seem to have lost their plot losing quick wickets in the run chase.

Jadeja goes out tamely of Marsh back of a length on the pads, but Jadeja turns it straight to short fine leg to Dinda.

Badri goes, and the partnership is broken, Badri made some room and ended up slicing the ball it towards long off, Smith runs in and slides to complete the catch.

The Chennai Kings need to keep their composure as they have more fire power to come in their batting lineup.

Finch looks unstoppable unleashing a couple of boundaries.

Both batsmen Uthappa and Finch opened well for the Pune warriors punishing the lose ball for a boundary.

Pune cruise along smoothly with Finch getting a quick 52 of 32 balls.

Finch looks comfortable firing all cylinders for Pune with a heavty six of Ashwin.

Pune Warriors are without captain Angelo Mathews, that's due to the ban on Sri Lankan players in Chennai.
But with Yuvraj Singh also not taking to the field, they'll need some real inspiration from  Taylor.

Buoyed by Saturday’s thrilling win against the Royal Challengers Bangalore, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) host Pune Warriors India (PWI) in Match 19 of IPL6 at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk on Monday.

After a defeat in their opening match, CSK have recovered well to post two wins in a row.

They will look to carry forward the momentum they have from those two wins against PWI, who suffered a 41-run defeat in the Maharashtrian Derby on Saturday.
