Firoz Khan and Hareesh slammed scintillating half-centuries to power Nucaf Tellicherry to a convincing 98-run victory over Veterans Cricket Association team from Hyderabad in the 23rd Sharjah Ramadan Tournament for the Interface Transworld Cup at the Sharjah stadium on Thursday night.
The tournament, organised by the Sharjah Cricket Council, is supported by 106.2 HUM FM and CBFS as associate sponsors.
Firoz scored 63 off 29 balls with five fours and four sixes while Hareesh weighed in with 54 off 36 balls which included two fours and three sixes as Nucaf Tellicherry, batting first, seized the early initiative, piling up a massive 257 for eight.
Shibith (37 off 15 with one four and five sixes), Krishna Chandra (30 off 13 with two fours and two sixes) and Usman Mushtaq (27 off 29) also joined the party with some fluent knocks.
Harkirat snared three for 40 while R.A. Swaroop and Kaleem grabbed two each, but they could never threaten the rampaging Nucaf Tellicherry batsmen.
The visiting team, in reply, were restricted to 159 for seven despite a fine innings of 54 by Kaleem. The batsman hit four fours and three sixes in his 35-ball innings. Harkirat also made 28 off 19, but Nucaf Tellicherry were in control throughout.
