The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that Pakistan will tour India later this year, according to reports in the Indian media.

India and Pakistan are likely to play three one-day internationals in December as the cricket boards of the two countries have agreed in principal to resume the cricketing ties, according to NDTV.com.

It is expected to be played during the Christmas break in India. Mohali, New Delhi and Dharamshala are the likely venues for the series, it added.

The BCCI still needs the approval of the Government of India to go ahead with the series.

Indo-Pak bilateral cricket ties were snapped after the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks even though the two teams came face to face in multi-team events such as the 2011 World Cup.

Earlier, in a bid to resume bilateral cricket ties between the two countries, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had put forward three proposals to the BCCI.

The PCB had proposed that either India can tour Pakistan or play them in a neutral venue. The third proposal is PCB hosting their home series in India.
