Pakistani pace ace Akhtar survives car crash

Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar escaped unhurt after his car crashed into a roadside concrete block near Prime Minister Secretariat, according to report.

Over-speeding seems to be the cause, Geo News reported.

Akhtar was returning home from a five-star hotel when the accident took place. The front portion of his car was badly damaged but he was lucky tocome out of it unhurt, The Express Tribune reported.

The police did not file any case and allowed the retired cricketer to go home, it added.

Akhtar is famous for crossing the 100 mph barrier as a bowler.

He announced his retirement during the 2011 World Cup after a chequered career during which he played 46 Tests, taking 178 wickets, while he played 163 ODI matches taking 247 wickets.
