Mohammed Shanil bowled a superb spell to claim four wickets as UAE Exchange defeated Seven Seas by six wickets in the KFC Emirates T20 Club Cricket League 2013 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

The tournament is organised for the first time ever by the Emirates Cricket Board’s Domestic Cricket Development Committee (ECB-DCDC) and is presented by Grand Midwest Hotels.

Batting by choice, Seven Seas were in for a surprise as their top order succumbed to a brilliant spell from Shanil leaving them reeling at 34 for four.

Waheed Ahmed (19, 30b, 1x4, 1x6) and Amjad Gujjar (36, 31b, 3x4, 2x6) managed to piece together a 52-run partnership to save Seven Seas from any further collapse. Small contributions lower the order ensured Seven Seas scored 132 for nine in 20 overs.

Shanil was the best bowler for UAE Exchange claiming four for 12 while Ali Afzal took two.

In reply, UAE Exchange openers Imtiaz Ahmed (23, 20b, 3x4, 1x6) and Aneesh Kakkot (36, 36b, 3x4, 1x6) provided a strong start.

Nadir Hussain scored a 25-ball 29 consisting of two boundaries and a six and Naeem Arshad smashed an unbeaten 18 from 15 balls as UAE Exchange achieved the target in 18.2 overs.

For Seven Seas, Rana Kashif and Hazrat Hussain claimed two wickets each.
