Tri-series WI v IND: West Indies beat India by one wicket

West Indies pulled off a thrilling one-wicket victory against India in the second match of the tri-series at Sabina Park in Kingstong, Jamaica on Sunday.

Chasing a target of 230, West Indies won with 14 balls remaining after a nail-biting finish.

They recovered from 26 for three thanks to a 116-run partnership between Johnson Charles (97) and Darren Bravo (55) to extended their winning streak at Sabina Park to eight.

India clawed back striking at regular intervals but Darren Sammy smashed a three sixes and two boundaries in his 25-ball cameo of 29 while Kemar Roach held his nerve with an unbeaten 14 to carry them past the finish line.

Yadav wreaked havoic claimed three for 43 while Ishant Sharma and Ashwin snared two wickets apiece.

The foundation for victory was laid by opener Charles who faced 100 balls hitting eight boundaries and four huge sixes.

West Indies were in dire straits as they lost both Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels within the first five overs to be precariously placed at 26 for three.

Yadav removed Gayle (11) and followed it up with wicket of Devon Smith (0) while Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled Samuels (1).

However, Charles batted positively, with his first six scoring strokes being boundaries.

Earlier, Indian batsmen battled hard on a difficult track as they managed 229 for seven.

Rohit Sharma (60) scored a composed half-century while Suresh Raina contributed a useful 44 after India were put into bat by West Indies' stand-in captain Kieron Pollard.

Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni battled cramps that hampered his running between the wickets badly yet he carried on manfully to chip in with 27 off 34 balls before he was cleaned up by a Tino Best inswinger.

There were two partnerships in the Indian innings - 59 for the third wicket between Sharma and Dinesh Karthik and 58 for the fifth wicket between Raina and Dhoni.

Sammy and Roach had identical figures of two for 41 while Best took two for 54.

West Indies won the toss and put India into bat in the second match of the Tri-series at Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica.

Dwayne Bravo is out with a groin strain and Kieron Pollard will lead West Indies in his absence.

Champions Trophy winners India are fielding an unchanged side for the sixth game running.
