Yogi Group win nail-biter against Lanka Lions

Yogi Group kept their nerve to pull off a one-wicket victory against Lanka Lions in a nail-bilting contest of the 23rd Sharjah Ramadan Tournament for the Interface Transworld Cup at the Sharjah Stadium on Friday night.
The 25-over cricket tournament, organised by the Sharjah Cricket Council, is supported by 106.2 HUM FM and CBFS.
Ajmal produced a fine all-round performance as Yogi Group overhauled Lanka Lions’ challenging total of 146 for eight with just two balls to spare.
The all-rounder first snared two wickets for 22 runs and then hammered a crucial 28 off 17 balls with one four and two sixes to seal the second successive win for Yogi Group in the tournament.
Put in by Yogi Group, Lanka Lions’ innings was built around a fluent 47 off 42 balls with two fours and three sixes by Mathila. Gayan (39 off 52 balls) further consolidated the innings in the face a disciplined Yogi Group attack led by Rameez who took four for 36.
Yogi Group survived a superb fight-back by Lanka Lions before clinching the issue in the last over.
Prabodhan led the run chase with a solid 48 off 52 balls which included five fours.
However, itt was Avdoot (33 off 26 balls with one four and three sixes) and Ajmal who dashed Lanka Lions hopes with some solid batting under pressure. Tharaka and Indika took three wickets each, but their efforts were not good enough to prevent Yogi Group emerging victorious.
