Yogi Group started their campaign in the DCC Elite Cup 50 overs tournament with a bang as Anoop Ravi smashed the first century of the tournament.

They also crossed the 300 run mark, a first for the tournament, as they beat Seven Seas Strikers by 105 runs in the tournament conducted by the Dubai Cricket Council at the Fair ground oval.

Yogi openers Salman Faris 89, and Malintha Pereira 49, gave them team a flying start putting on 66 runs in 11 overs.

Malintha and Salman both hit six fours and a six during their innings.

Swapnil Patil departed early bowled by Hazrat Hussain but Anoop Ravi then played a match winning knock hitting two sixes and seven boundaries in his hurricane innings of 109.

A late cameo by Aniket Desai who made 29 runs in 21 balls with three fours and a six saw Yogi notch 303 runs in their 50 overs.

Hazrat Hussain was the most successful bowler for Seven Seas claiming 4 for 45.

Seven Seas had a decent start as Mohammad Waqas (20) and Gulam Shabbir (38) putting on 39 runs before Sandeep Singh separated them.

Mohammad Salman then took up the cudgels playing a responsible and unbeaten knock of 74 runs in 83 balls with nine boundaries and a six.

Unfortunately wickets fell around him as the spiralling run-rate created havoc in the batsmen’s minds and Ali Zafar took advantage snapping up three for 45 and restrict Seven Seas Strikers to 198.
