The Brazilians may have faced one of the most humiliating defeats in recent times, but their consolation prize comes as a new record, with Twitter revealing last night’s Fifa World Cup match has become the most-discussed single sports game on the micro blogging site.

Twitter Data has released figures of the German blitzkrieg of the Brazilians on the pitch, which garnered 35.6 million tweets, with a new Tweets Per Minute (TPM) record also being set with Sami Khedira’s goal in the 29th minute triggering a landslide 580,166 TPM.

Germany’s Tony Kroos peaked on Twitter when he scored the second goal of the match, earning 508,601 TPM, while his first goal earner him 497,425 TPM.

Kroos also emerged as the second most tweeted German player of the night, defeated by fellow teammate and striker Miroslav Klose who broke records of his own to create World Cup history by netting his 16th finals goal in the 7-1 semi-final victory over Brazil.

Thomas Muller came in after Kroos in the Twitter countdown, with his 11th minute goal giving the Germans the adrenaline to take on the Brazilians through the 90 minutes.

Meanwhile, amidst the Brazilians, goalie Julio Cesar, along with the only scorer of the night, Oscar, came in first and second on the Twitter charts, with Fred round up the trio of the most tweeted names of the match.

The Germany-Brazil match also beat the Brazil-Chile match record of 389,000 TPM and Superbowl 48 at 382,000 TPM.
